Produced Water Treatment

SPEC engineers and fabricates hydrocyclones, corrugated plate interceptors, flotation units and nutshell filters that remove dispersed oil and suspended solids from produced water for discharge or reinjection.

Process skids and treatment equipment at a field production facility

Over a field’s life, water often becomes the largest produced stream, and it is treated in stages.

Capabilities

Design and Fabrication Features

Staged removal

Bulk oil first, then flotation, then polishing — each stage sized for the droplets the previous one leaves behind.

Diverter plates

Distributing inlet flow evenly across the cell so no part of the vessel is short-circuited.

Eductors

Drawing gas into the water and dispersing it as fine bubbles without rotating equipment.

Coalescer packs

Internal media merging fine droplets into larger ones that separate more readily.

Deflector plates

Controlling flow direction through the cell to maximise contact time.

Media filtration

Nutshell media beds with backwash, polishing to tight oil-in-water limits.

Sized to the discharge limit

Trains configured against the applicable overboard or reinjection specification.

Skid-mounted trains

Multiple stages combined on a single skid where footprint allows.

Sized to water cut

Capacity set by the produced water rate expected across field life, not just at start-up.
